Volvovsky annual apple fest

Given that the apples in our house are usually consumed at the speed of light, we usually make it out to the apple orchard at least once a year. This season, we delayed the outing until almost the first frost, but made it just in time. Sophia was ready to go picking at six o'clock in the morning. Both she and Emil woke up at dawn, ready to start the day. Dad was less enthusiastic at getting up with the roosters, so we gave him another hour to snooze. Not too long, though, since Sophia was nervous that there wouldn't be enough apples left for her. Beating the crowd, off we went. The first order of business were apple donuts and apple cider - after all, we couldn't go picking on empty stomach. The we started our infestation of the orchard. Sophia was grabbing everything that was within her reach, Sasha was gulping down as many apples as he could possibly handle. Two full bags later, we headed off to the pumpkin field, where Sophia has chosen a pumkin the size of a smallish carriage. She swore she'd eat it... right...
The apple pie is in the oven as we speak, and there are ambicious plans for the rest of the fruit. Check back with us to see how these plans materialize.
